Fees & service information

Transparent fees. No surprises.

Where the work is predictable, we quote a fixed fee. Where it isn't, we agree an hourly rate or capped estimate in writing — before any meter starts.

How we price

Three approaches, picked to match the work:

  • Fixed fee — for predictable work: most wills and LPAs, and settlement agreement reviews.
  • Capped estimate — for work that's bounded but uncertain: an agreed maximum, with a refund on under-runs.
  • Hourly rate — for genuinely open-ended matters like contested disputes. The rate, expected hours and review points are all agreed up-front.

Indicative starting points

What you'll get in writing

Before any work starts, you receive a client care letter and engagement terms covering:

  • What we will and won't do (clear scope of work)
  • Who is doing the work and who is supervising
  • The fee — fixed, capped or hourly — including VAT treatment
  • Disbursements (third-party costs like court fees, search fees, OPG registration)
  • An expected timeline and the next review point
  • Your right to complain and how to escalate (see Complaints)

Disbursements

Disbursements are costs we pay on your behalf to third parties — court fees, Land Registry fees, search providers, OPG registration, Home Office application fees. We charge them at cost (no mark-up) and list them in advance.

SRA price transparency

For service areas covered by the SRA's price transparency rules (including motoring offences, employment tribunal claims, debt recovery and uncontested probate), the relevant practice-area page publishes our standard pricing, what's included, typical timescales and the people doing the work.

Funding. We are a private-paying practice and do not currently hold a legal aid contract. If your case qualifies for legal aid, we'll point you toward providers who hold a contract — it'll be better for you than instructing us privately.
